Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What types of organisations do you work with?
We work with manufacturers, brand owners, and organisations seeking credible life cycle–based assessments, independent verification, or technical review. Engagements range from single-product studies to multi-site or portfolio-level projects.

Do you provide both advisory and verification services?
Yes. We provide limited advisory support alongside independent verification and critical review services. Where verification is involved, strict separation is maintained to ensure independence and impartiality.

Do you work internationally?
Yes. Our engagements routinely support international markets and are aligned with relevant international standards and program operator requirements.

General

EPD & EPD Verification

What is the difference between EPD development and EPD verification?
EPD development involves conducting the life cycle assessment and preparing the EPD in accordance with the applicable PCR and program rules. EPD verification is an independent review confirming compliance with standards, PCRs, and program operator requirements.

Which EPD program operators do you support?
We support verification and review activities aligned with major international EPD program. Program applicability is confirmed during project scoping.

How long does EPD verification typically take?
Timelines depend on product complexity, data completeness, and responsiveness during review cycles. Verification typically takes several weeks once complete documentation is available.

LCA & Critical Review

When is a critical review required?
A critical review is generally required when LCA results are used for public disclosure or comparative assertions. Requirements depend on the applicable standard and intended use.

What standards do you follow for LCA reviews?
Reviews are conducted in line with applicable international standards and guidance, such as ISO 14040/14044, ISO 14067, and program-specific requirements.

What is the difference between a critical review and verification?
A critical review evaluates methodological consistency, transparency, and standard compliance of an LCA study. Verification confirms compliance of a specific declaration or claim (such as an EPD or carbon footprint) against defined rules.

Do you review LCAs developed using specific software tools?
Yes. We review studies developed using widely recognized LCA software tools. Software suitability and modelling assumptions are assessed as part of the review.

Data, Confidentiality & Integrity

How is confidential data handled?
All information shared is treated as confidential and used solely for the agreed engagement. Where required, a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) is executed prior to data exchange, and data is handled in line with strict confidentiality and information security practices.

Can supplier or upstream data be anonymized?
Yes. Supplier or upstream data can be anonymized or aggregated where appropriate, provided transparency, traceability, and methodological integrity requirements are maintained.

Will assumptions and data quality be challenged?
Yes. Reviewing assumptions, data representativeness, and methodological choices is an essential part of ensuring robust, credible, and defensible outcomes.

Engagement & commercials

How are projects typically scoped?
Each engagement begins with a clear scoping discussion covering objectives, system boundaries, data requirements, applicable standards or PCRs, deliverables, and timelines.

What information is required to begin an engagement?
Requirements vary by service but typically include product or system descriptions, available LCA models or datasets, relevant standards or PCRs, and clarity on intended use.
